Begin by identifying the multiport valve–typically located on the upper hemisphere of the unit. This critical assembly manages water flow direction through seven key settings: Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Recirculate, Closed, and Winter. Each position reroutes internal channels, so verify O-ring integrity before adjustments to prevent bypass leakage. The valve’s spider gasket (part #160388) wears fastest; replace it every 2–3 years during scheduled maintenance to avoid pressure loss or erratic flow patterns.
