Start by locating the crankcase assembly at the core of the unit–this houses the piston, cylinder, and flywheel, elements critical for power transfer. The exploded view should clearly label the piston rings (typically 3-4 mm thick) and the crankshaft bearings (pressed into place with a 15-18 mm interference fit). If replacing the connecting rod, verify alignment with the piston pin; misalignment by even 0.1 mm reduces compression efficiency by up to 12%.
