Start by locating the playfield schematic–a high-resolution layout showing core components like bumpers, targets, and rails. This document is critical for diagnosing malfunctions, as it labels each element with technical IDs. For example, solenoid drivers (typically marked S2 or PS) control the flippers, while drop targets (DT series) reset via a dedicated coil. Always cross-reference these IDs with manufacturer specs–Williams, Stern, and Data East use distinct numbering systems.
